Cabinet has approved implementation of the revised National Curriculum Framework as Sri Lanka proceeds with its school-education reforms.
The reforms introduced for Grade 1 will continue.
Grades 2 and 6 are scheduled to enter the revised framework in 2027.
The Grade 6 reforms had originally been planned for 2026 but were postponed.
Activity books and teacher guides for Grades 1 and 2 covering all three school terms in 2027 have been prepared for printing.
Modules and teacher guides for Grade 6 have also been prepared.
The National Institute of Education has trained master trainers, while provincial-level teacher training is planned.
A new policy guideline for school-based evaluation and assessment has also been approved.
Cabinet approval establishes the policy and implementation framework. It does not mean every teacher has already completed training or every required learning resource has already reached every school.
