The Criminal Investigation Department has arrested Ranjith Kumara, alias Konda Ranjith, at Bandaranaike International Airport following his deportation from Dubai.
Police said the suspect was taken into CID custody after arriving in Sri Lanka on 9 September.
He had previously been detained by authorities in Dubai before being deported to Sri Lanka.

Police identify Ranjith Kumara as an alleged organised-crime figure.
Investigators allege links to a range of criminal activity, including organised crime and drug trafficking.
Some police-attributed reports also allege connections to assaults, intimidation and shooting incidents.

Further investigation
The CID is conducting further investigations following his return to Sri Lanka.
Reports indicate that he is expected to be produced before court following preliminary investigative procedures.
