Sri Lanka's Cabinet has approved the publication of the Community Based Corrections (Amendment) Bill in the Government Gazette and its subsequent submission to Parliament for approval.
The proposal was submitted by the Minister of Justice and National Integration.

The proposed amendments are intended, according to the Government's stated rationale, to strengthen implementation of the Community Based Corrections framework in relation to repeat offenders.
The Attorney General has provided clearance for the draft Bill.
