The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has recorded a statement from former Treasury Secretary and former Presidential Secretary P.B. Jayasundara in connection with the investigation into allegations surrounding the SriLankan Airlines Airbus deal.
CIABOC officials visited Jayasundara's residence in Nikaweratiya to record the statement.
The questioning lasted nearly four hours, according to CIABOC-attributed reporting.
Jayasundara served as Secretary to the Treasury and Ministry of Finance during the period relevant to the Airbus transactions under investigation.
He later served as Secretary to former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
Recording a statement is an investigative step.
It does not establish that Jayasundara committed an offence, and it should not by itself be interpreted as meaning that he has been charged or found responsible for wrongdoing.
The Airbus investigation has produced several separate investigative and court developments involving different individuals.
Sineth News has already reported developments including proceedings involving Namal Rajapaksa and the recent forfeiture of bail bonds associated with another suspect.
Those proceedings must not be inaccurately merged with Jayasundara's questioning.
