Former State Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, widely known as Pillayan, and two other suspects have been further remanded until October 13 in connection with a CID investigation into killings in Batticaloa in 2008.
The investigation covers three incidents in which five people were killed.
Chandrakanthan appeared before court by video link.
The occurrence of the killings and the suspects' current remand status can be reported as established procedural facts.
Their alleged involvement in the killings remains unproven.
Remand is not a finding of guilt.
