Sri Lanka Police say plans are underway to introduce a digital process intended to reduce delays in obtaining Attorney General advice on criminal case files.
Police say they are working with the Attorney General's Department on the proposed system as part of efforts to speed up the review process.
According to figures provided by Police, 3,165 case files were referred for Attorney General advice during the relevant 2025-2026 period.
Police say advice has been received on 2,871 files, leaving 294 files outstanding.
The figures indicate that advice has been received for approximately 90.7% of the files in the reported total, with approximately 9.3% remaining outstanding.
These figures should be clearly understood as Police-provided statistics rather than an independently published Attorney General's Department dataset.
The proposed digital process is intended to make the transfer and review of relevant case information more efficient and reduce delays associated with obtaining legal advice.
However, no confirmed implementation date, project cost or detailed technical design has yet been announced.
The initiative should therefore be described as a planned digital system, not as an already operational nationwide platform.
