24-Hour Water Cut Announced for Colombo and Suburban Areas From September 3

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board has announced a 24-hour water-supply interruption affecting several parts of Colombo and surrounding areas.

The interruption is scheduled to begin at 8.00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, and continue until 8.00 p.m. on Friday, September 4.

According to the Board, the interruption is required for essential work at the Ambatale Water Treatment Plant aimed at improving the quality and reliability of the water supply.

Affected areas include:

Nugegoda, Kohuwala, Dehiwala, Mount Lavinia, Ratmalana, Moratuwa, Rawathawatta, Soysapura, Angulana, Indibeddiya, Katubedda, Kaldemulla, Modara, Koralawella, Egoda Uyana and Katukurunda.

The interruption will also affect Sethsiripaya, Himbutana, Udumulla Road, Maligagodella, Bank Junction Road, W.A. Silva Mawatha, Havelock Road, Kalyani Road, Colombo 06, Hospital Roundabout Road, Jayanthi Mawatha and Shanthi Mawatha.

Consumers in affected areas should make appropriate arrangements for essential water requirements during the interruption.

The Water Board has asked consumers to use water sparingly and expressed regret for the inconvenience.
