The Department of Motor Traffic is preparing to issue green-background number plates for electric vehicles in Sri Lanka.
According to DMT-attributed reporting, 88,740 plates have been prepared for eligible electric vehicles.
The total includes plates for 56,233 cars and 32,507 three-wheelers.
The plates are expected to help identify electric vehicles more clearly for regulatory, administrative and transport-management purposes.

The new plates are being described as legally valid number plates issued through the Department of Motor Traffic process.
