Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya departed Sri Lanka on Monday, 31 August, for an official visit to Bhutan to participate in the Global Conscious Food Systems Summit.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to participate in the opening plenary of the summit on 1 September.
She is also scheduled to deliver a keynote address during the opening session.
Keynote address scheduled for September 1
According to the Government Information Department, the Prime Minister's keynote address will be delivered under the theme:
"Rising to the Moment: Igniting Consciousness to Address the Polycrisis."
The summit focuses on issues surrounding food systems and their relationship with wider social, environmental and economic challenges.
Discussions with international representatives
During the visit, Prime Minister Amarasuriya is also scheduled to hold discussions with international leaders and representatives.
The Government says the discussions will focus on strengthening cooperation relating to sustainable food systems, food security and resilient communities.
Visit is underway; outcomes are not yet known
The Prime Minister's departure and scheduled participation are confirmed.
However, substantive outcomes from the summit, bilateral discussions, agreements or new commitments should not be reported before they occur and are officially confirmed.
