A 3 megawatt ground-mounted solar power project at Veyangoda has been connected to Sri Lanka's national electricity grid.
The development has been described as the first completed project under a wider programme intended to develop 300 MW of solar-generation capacity.
The project represents a relatively small component of that larger renewable-energy programme but marks a completed grid-connected development.
Capacity distinction
The completed Veyangoda project is 3 MW. The 300 MW figure is the target of the broader programme, not the capacity commissioned at this plant.
