Sri Lanka has formally handed over its US$1 million humanitarian contribution to Nepal, following the Government's earlier decision to provide assistance after devastating floods and landslides.
Sri Lanka originally announced the contribution on 27 August 2026, after President Anura Kumara Dissanayake directed the Government to provide financial assistance to support Nepal's relief and humanitarian efforts.
The latest development is the formal handover of the previously announced contribution, rather than a new decision to provide another US$1 million.
Background
The original assistance was announced following severe floods and landslides in Nepal that caused deaths, displacement and widespread damage.
Sri Lanka said the financial contribution was intended to support immediate humanitarian and relief work.
