National Development Bank PLC says the final independent forensic review into a previously disclosed fraud has determined its financial impact at Rs.13,639,664,684, or approximately Rs.13.64 billion.

The final amount is Rs.60 million higher than the figure reported following the interim forensic review.

The review was conducted by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP.

NDB says the matter has been reported to law-enforcement authorities and that it is pursuing recovery measures.

The bank also says no customer suffered a loss or reduction in account balances as a result of the incident.

According to the bank, weaknesses identified in areas including controls, technology and governance are being addressed.

The forensic review establishes the bank's assessed financial impact and identified control issues. It does not by itself establish the criminal guilt of any particular individual.
