The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has kept its Overnight Policy Rate unchanged at 8.75% in its latest monetary-policy decision.
CBSL says real GDP grew by 4.7% during the first half of 2026.
Gross official reserves stood at approximately US$6.9 billion at the end of August.
The reserve figure includes the swap arrangement with the People's Bank of China and should not be presented as entirely unencumbered reserves.
CBSL says private-sector credit growth has begun moderating.
The Bank expects inflation to remain in the high single digits through the first quarter of 2027 before moving toward its 5% target over the medium term.
CBSL also identified international geopolitical uncertainty and possible weather-related risks, including El Niño conditions, as factors relevant to the outlook.
The decision to leave the policy rate unchanged should not be interpreted as meaning inflation has returned to target.
