The headline inflation rate was unchanged from August.
Food inflation increased from 8.5% in August to 8.7% in September.
Non-food inflation remained at 7.7%.
These figures refer specifically to the Colombo Consumer Price Index.
They should not be described as the later National Consumer Price Index reading for September.
An unchanged year-on-year inflation rate also does not mean prices stopped increasing or returned to previous levels. It means the measured annual rate of change remained at 8.0%.
