Sri Lanka Customs Targets October 1 Launch for Paperless Customs Declarations

Sri Lanka Customs is targeting October 1, 2026 for the introduction of its paperless customs declaration system, according to Government information.

Customs officials briefed representatives of the International Monetary Fund during the current IMF mission on preparations for the new system.

Preparations

Officials outlined work relating to:

  • technical readiness;
  • implementation preparations; and
  • awareness activities connected with the transition to paperless customs declarations.

The Government says IMF representatives welcomed the progress and indicated support for implementation.

Scheduled — not yet operational

October 1 is a targeted launch date; the system is not yet fully operational. IMF engagement is not formal technical approval, certification of completion or a newly imposed programme condition.
