Sri Lanka Customs has crossed the Rs.2 trillion revenue milestone for 2026, reaching the level by September 15 with more than three months of the calendar year remaining.
The milestone represents approximately 90% of the department's full-year 2026 revenue target of Rs.2.207 trillion.
The achievement follows strong Customs revenue collection during the first eight months of the year.
The department's public revenue dashboard recorded cumulative collections of Rs.1.985063 trillion through September 14.
Separate Customs data for September 15 show approximately Rs.148.699 billion collected during September up to that date, compared with Rs.132.532 billion through September 14.
The newer official announcement therefore supersedes the September 14 cumulative figure used in the original Sineth News publication package and confirms that total 2026 collections have now passed Rs.2 trillion.
Sri Lanka Customs is one of the country's principal revenue-collecting institutions, collecting taxes and duties associated primarily with imports and exports.
Customs recorded approximately Rs.2.558 trillion in revenue during 2025, its highest annual collection at the time.
Crossing Rs.2 trillion by mid-September means the department has collected around nine-tenths of its full-year target before the final quarter of 2026.
However, reaching the milestone does not by itself establish what the final 2026 revenue total will be. Collections during the remainder of the year will depend on import activity, applicable taxes and duties, exchange rates and other factors affecting Customs revenue.
