Senior representatives of the United States Federal Maritime Commission are expected in Sri Lanka as Colombo prepares to host an international maritime and logistics conference next week.
The U.S. Federal Maritime Commission officially lists Chairman Laura DiBella as a speaker at the inaugural Colombo International Maritime and Logistics Conference on September 9, 2026.
Sri Lankan reporting says DiBella and Federal Maritime Commissioner Robert J. Harvey are expected to visit Sri Lanka from September 6 to 10.
The reported visit is expected to include meetings with Sri Lankan Government and maritime-sector representatives, with discussions focusing on maritime trade, investment and shipping connectivity.
The Federal Maritime Commission is the U.S. federal agency responsible for regulation and oversight of aspects of the country's international ocean transportation system.
Its official schedule directly confirms DiBella's Colombo conference appearance on September 9.
The broader September 6-10 itinerary and meetings involving both Commissioners have been reported in Sri Lanka and should remain attributed accordingly unless independently confirmed by the FMC.
The visit comes as Sri Lanka seeks to strengthen its position as a maritime and logistics hub in the Indian Ocean.
