Gotabaya Rajapaksa Gives Evidence in Lalith–Kugan Disappearance Inquiry; Further Testimony Set for November 27

Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has given evidence in the long-running judicial inquiry concerning the disappearance of activists Lalith Weeraraj and Kugan Muruganandan.

Rajapaksa gave evidence remotely to the Jaffna Magistrate's Court while attending the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court.

Lalith and Kugan disappeared in Jaffna on December 9, 2011.

The court has fixed November 27 for further recording of evidence.

Rajapaksa appeared in this proceeding as a witness, not as an accused.

Questions put to a witness and answers given during testimony are not themselves judicial findings.
