A proposed new Sri Lanka Cricket law would substantially restructure the governance of the country's cricket administration.
Under the proposed model, the governing body would include seven Independent Directors and six Elected Directors.
The chairperson would be selected from among the independent directors.
At least two of the independent directors would be required to be women.
The proposed law also contains eligibility and disqualification rules addressing matters including political office, recent involvement in Sri Lanka Cricket, betting interests and other potential conflicts of interest.
The legislation also proposes limits affecting service within cricket administration.
Cabinet had previously approved preparation and gazetting of the Sri Lanka Cricket Bill before its presentation to Parliament.
This remains a Bill.
It is not enacted law, and Parliament may amend its provisions before passage.
