The second phase of the third school term for Government and Government-approved private schools begins on September 7.
The reopening follows the scheduled school-term break.
The Ministry of Education has also instructed schools to carry out dengue-control activities around the reopening period.
Schools were instructed to conduct dengue-prevention and cleaning activities on September 6 and 7 to reduce mosquito-breeding sites within school premises.
The measure comes as Sri Lanka continues to record a high national dengue burden.

School dengue prevention
School dengue-control activities generally focus on identifying and eliminating places where water can collect and Aedes mosquitoes can breed.
The reopening instruction should be reported as a preventive public-health measure associated with the start of the new school-term phase.
It should not be interpreted as meaning schools were closed because of dengue or that a new dengue emergency has been declared specifically for schools.
Parents and students should follow any additional instructions issued directly by their schools or education authorities.
